THE PROGRAMS, PRODUCTS AND SERVICES DEVELOPED BY PLUS GIVE EDUCATORS THE TOOLS TO EFFECTIVELY BUILD A POSITIVE SCHOOL CLIMATE WHERE ALL STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEANINGFUL PARTICIPATION.  OUR SYSTEM OF SERVICES FOCUSSES ON BUILDING STRENGTHS IN THREE AREAS: 1. STUDENT CONNECTIONS 2. GATHERING DATA 3. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT.

 

1. PEER TO PEER PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT          

To build strong student engagement and connections we built our safe schools model on the evidence found in the research on youth development and the effectiveness of peer to peer programs. Teams of staff members are trained to manage a youth facilitated program on campus that utilizes social leadership qualities to connect all students on a campus.  A diverse cross section of student leaders facilitate a series of activities that create communication, connections, care and community amongst a student body.  Utilizing best practice strategies, the PLUS Team student leaders serve as the liaison between the student body and the adults on a campus.  Many schools implementing PBIS strategies have found the PLUS Program to be a perfect fit for student involvement at a Tier 1 intervention level.

2. DATA INTEGRATION                                      

To help schools effectively gather data, we built the Directional Leadership Survey and Resource Database.  This amazing tool gives the local control to the school site to create and facilitate as many surveys as they need throughout the school year.  No longer can we afford to wait for data, schools must keep up with the trends and ask questions monthly to discover the true pulse of their students and the school climate.  Schools receive immediate data that will trend behavior month to month and year to year.  Comparison data can be analyzed to discover any disproportional behavior experiences student encounter throughout the year.  Surveys can be administered online or through a printed out PDF.  When behaviors are identified as above the normal responses, the database guides the user to a set of resources, activities and funding opportunities that can serve to help facilitate program development that addresses the identified abnormal behavior.  Schools are discovering the survey and resource database is a must when overseeing LCAP  and implementing PBIS Strategies.

3. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS AND CONFERENCES                                              

To help schools stay on top of the latest research and the trends impacting school climate, student engagement and building a safe school environment, we have developed a series of trainings and conferences to serve as professional development opportunities to enhance program development.  As the co-host of the Annual California Safe Schools Conference, we are able to assure professional development opportunities that specifically cover the criteria needed to build positive school climate and healthy student engagement.  To compliment the Safe Schools Conference our 1 day training series workshops are facilitated throughout the year.  These can be delivered in school districts and communities upon request.
